PRESIDENT BILL BEIL

PRESIDENT Kira Libby

Kira Libby was voted in to the position of president in November 2025. Kira has been involved in many civic organizations and has been with the musuem for several years. Kira has attended many events and helped out by manning and where we needed help.

Good luck to Kira in the role of president.

Kira resides in Mars Hill and is married to Lori who also helps out at events. Kira also has 2 adult children.

VICE PRESIDENT Matt Cole

Matt Cole

Eagle Scout and an all around good guy who helped to get this whole thing started.  His carpentry skills have played an important role in making our building what it is today.   Matt Cole knows what has to be done and does it. Elected in September 2005, Matt is as eager as it gets and is the driving force that keeps us going. Matt is married to Joanna and have 2 wonderful children, Meghan and Ryan. Matt is active as a scout leader and helps scouts with Eagle Court. 


Matt works at NMCC as a Carpentry teacher and is exceptional at his skill and it shows in our museum.

Matt is the driving force with helping with the new floors and installation of them. 


Matt is the driving force to get us the flyovers and the planes for our Open Houses! He is on the phone all the time pushing them to be here for us! When you see a bird over Loring again, Be sure to Thank Mr. Matt Cole for all that hard work! 


MATT IS THE MAN TO GET US THE BIRDS AND WE ARE GRATEFUL TO HAVE HIM ONBOARD!

We look forward to working with Matt for a long time to come. 

TREASURER Jim Quinn

Jim is a USAF Veteran of Loring. Jim was active with the B52 and is all things B52. 

Jim was and is a proud member of the OMS Squadron. Jim is a right hand man that has helped and jumped in when needed. 

Jim has worked at DFAS for many years at Loring and is a great asset to them and us.  


Jim is married to Pam Quinn and has 2 daughters and grandkids. Jim is an avid hockey player and loves to be on the ice. He played at Loring on the ice and was on the base hockey team. 


Thank you Jim for stepping up to take the open position and for being at events to help with those too. Without you we would be in big trouble not having your hands and knowledge of all things B-52.

SECRETARY Tonya Ossenfort

Tonya Ossenfort has been a member of the Loring Air Museum being brought to meetings and coming to help with her late husband Ozzie. 

Tonya jumps in easily and has a calm and easy going demeanor. She is an asset to the museum and all she does. 

She and her grandson Evan have taken care of the Loring Dog Cemetery for many years and she is the driving force for it. To preserve the history of the dogs.

Tonya takes great pride in what she does and still works a full time job in Caribou. 

Thank you Tonya for stepping up to Secretary in 2025.  We look forward to a long relationship with you and your continued help. 

DIRECTOR Jim Lightbody

Jim Lightbody


 Jim will serve us in the Director’s chair for a 3-year term. He‘s smart, knowledgeable about the grounds and the area and a great add to our museum. We look forward to many years with him at the helm of Director.


Jim has helped to man the museum coming from downstate to do it. He fell in love with the area, the Arch and the Dog Cemetery.


Thanks, Jim, for taking the position and stepping up to help out.

PAST OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS

President Polly Chike

Polly served at Loring. She retired from the Air Force and moved back to the area. She uses her military experience to help the museum which she loves. She has recruited people to help at the open house as well as projects at the museum. She is the one who purchased the totes and completely organized our inventory.


President Bill Beil

Bill was elected to the position of President in November 2020 . Bill is a USAF retired Chief Master Sergeant. Bill served at Loring from 1980-1984. He was in charge of the Personal Division at the 42nd Combat Support Group. Bill was the acting Senior Enlisted advisor 2 times. Bill was president of the Air Force Sargents Association and President of the Loring Bowling Association. Bill was an avid bowler in his days at Loring and very good at it too. Bill is married to Amy and they met and married at Loring AFB. They reside in Limestone and are active at the Museum. Bill has 3 children as well. Bill is hard working and wants to jump in and help and brings Amy with him!   Bill is “Johnny on the spot” to help people gain entry to the building when some want to get in. Thanks Bill. We look forward to working with you as our new President. Bill passed away but his legacy remains at Loring. Thanks Chief!


President Amy Beil

Amy stepped up to the plate when her husband Bill passed away. Amy met her husband at Loring and they had a truly wonderful life together. After they exited the military they decided to stay in Aroostook County, settling in Limestone. Amy lead the museum to a very successful Open House and led with confidence. She was not overbearing and she knew to trust the people that were placed in just the right spots and postions. Amy lead with a smile, truth, heart and understanding of what needed to be done. Amy worked at DFAS and retired to Florida for a whole new life. We miss you Amy and wish you all the best. 


President Ray Hildebrand

Ray is retired USAF and National Guard Member. Ray is married to his wife for 40+ years and is the father of 2 woman who have given him 2 wonderful grandchildren.  Ray is a retired school teacher who has served on many levels and has served in many capacities of the teachers associations. Ray is very active in the organization and brings to the table much enthusiasm and knowledge, especially about the B52. He serves as a tour guide and is in charge of the Hounddog Missiles project. Ray has kept us up to date on everything associated with the missile and the wing areas. We look forward to Ray’s advice and leadership and can do attitude for a long time to come!


President William "OZZIE" Bill Ossenfort 

Ozzie was our president for 10 years. Bill retired as a MSGT in the USAF, and was married to Tonya one of our members and active participants. Bill was active in our museum and took a leadership role and moved us so far forward. He helped raise the roof of the new garage and helped man the center and open it for all kinds of visitors. Bill was active in all our fundraisers and brought the family along to help out with Tonya. Bill was at Loring a long time and he was a great bowler and member of the OMS squadron. Thank you Ozzie for all you did to better our Center. We miss you very much. 

**Ozzie has passed away but he is in our hearts and minds as we move forward. 


President Chief Master Sergeant, Retired, Dean Brakel, held the President’s position from our Center’s beginnings in September 2005 to October 2007. Dean is no longer in Maine and has since retired. Thanks Dean for being there at the beginning and a few years after. Great job. 



Treasurer
James R. Moore, retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, has a formidable interest in jet engines and also monitors the Center’s books to insure that we have sufficient funds to meet our financial obligations.  He also works part-time for the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, a statewide advocacy agency for the elderly.   He is a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.  Also acts as a non-paid advisor on military issues to Congressman Michael Michaud of Maine’s 2nd Congressional District.  Jim is married to Carol, who was as active and helpful as Jim was. Jim was the Treasurer. 

**JIM PASSED AWAY BUT REMAINS IN OUR HEARTS. THANKS JIM FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. 


Treasurer Terry Johndro

Terry served as treasurer for 10 years. Terry kept us straight and was a voice of reason and knowledge when we needed him. Terry worked hard at events and truly was awesome. He was quiet till he needed to not be quiet. Then you knew how he felt. Terry was a USAF Veteran of Loring and a USAF Veteran for 20 years. He has 2 kids. Chris and Ashley and one Grandson, Silas. Thank you Terry for your years of dedication to the museum. We appreciate you. 


Secretary Cathie Mary Welch 

Cathie held the secretary’s position from September 2005 – October 2007.  Welch was the 42nd Bomb Wing’s Base Commander’s Secretary and started at the former Loring Air Force Base in December 1964 and worked there until it closed in September 1994.  She worked for seventeen different Base Commanders during that time. She is not active with the Loring Air Museum but did do an interview for us. NOTE: Cathie has since retired due to vision issues and lives in Caribou. 


Secretary Cuppy  Johndro

Cuppy  served  in  the  role  for  18  years  and  left  a  large  foot print at Loring.  Cuppy  was  our  direct  link  to  the  Loring  family  and  very  knowledgeable  about  all  things  Loring.  She  wrote  the  book  “Loring: A Comprehensive  History“, due  to  having  her  hand  on  the  pulse  of  the  members  and  the  ability  to  research.  She  ran  many  events, manned  more  times  then  can  be  counted,  conducted   tours   and  did  all  the  displays for the last 14 years,  computer  entries  for  displays, cleaning, winterizing,  organized   at  events and  so  much  more.   Cuppy  was  diverse  and  could  juggle  many  roles  simultaneously.  Cuppy  often  pulled  in  family  and  friends  to    assist  at  events. We  will  miss  her  leadership  skills, organizational skills  and  knowledge  of many things to include the website and  Facebook pages.  Thank  you  Cuppy.  


Director Spurge A. Nason

Spurge was born in the nearby town of Houlton, Maine, graduated from Hodgdon High School in 1969.  He joined the U.S. Military in the same year and served two tours with the Marines in Vietnam.  He also served in Japan and in Thailand.  Receiving an Honorable discharge in 1972, he went on to college to earn Bachelors’ in Business and in Social Services.    He began his Federal Civil Service Career in 1975 and worked at the former Loring Air Force Base for 29 years as a Draftsman and Community Planner.     He is a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.  He and his family live in Caribou.  Nason has done an excellent job of obtaining and preserving the many displays we have on-hand.  NOTE:  Spurg is still around and helping as he always has. He brings a voice of reason and concern. Thanks Spurg for all you have done for the Center! 

Director Darrell Sterling, retired Air Force Master Sergeant who worked in Finance his entire Air Force career.  Now works at Defense Accounting & Finance in Limestone, Maine as a supervisor. Provided valuable in-puts for our annual audit. NOTE:  Darrell is not active but was very helpful in the very early years with us. Thanks Darrell for all your help. 


Director Norman Johndro

Norman served with the Air Force during the Korean War and later on became a Federal Civil Servant for 30 years at the former Loring Air Force Base and now volunteers at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou, Maine. Norman was married to Joyce and an amazing family man. Was a Director NOTE: Norman is no longer with us, and is sorely missed. 

  


Past Director Wayne Selfridge

Wayne is a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant and Member at Large, came on board in September 2005 to help our Center get off the ground. With his plate already full as the Executive Director of the Loring Wildlife Refuge, a detective for the Presque Isle, Maine Police Department and a U.S. Marshall for Homeland Security, he still found time to attend meetings, offer suggestions and to provide management expertise in critical areas.  He helped us navigate through the many Federal and State application forms The Center needed to qualify as a non-profit organization.   He is still active with Loring Military Heritage as well as the Loring Wildlife Refuge.



Past Director John Bourgoine Sr.
John grew up and was raised in Aroostook County. John's Dad owned what was the pea patch area of the base. He has spoken on many youtube videos and in our video as well as another about the land and what it was like to grow up in the County and what it was like pre base. John is married to a wonderful woman Brenda. Both have helped with our Brownie Ala Mode sale many years and come out to our events. John is outspoken and quiet at the same time. Great asset to have for us! 


Past Director: Robert Ellenwood, Executive Board member and retired Air Force Master Sergeant.  Only served for short time but still gave us his best. Still active with the Center. 

**Sadly Bob has passed away and is very missed. 


Past Director: Reggie Ouillette, Director and Electrician. Reggie was a a Master Electrician and overall amazing man. Reggie was 91 years old and had the heart and enthusiasm of a 25 year old man. Reggie gave us the juice for our buildings, by climbing up and down ladders to keep our lights blazing. Reggie has been in and out of every building on the base, in some sort of capacity since 1952. He started there when there were just 3 buildings on the base. He was instrumental in getting our new showroom up and running with power. He saved us a lot of money by donating his time, his effort and getting his sons help as well for our cause. 

Reggie has been there since the start and we are humbled to have had him on our side.

Reggie leaves his wife of 70 years Theresa. They had 5 children together. 

**Reggie passed away on Feb 26, 2020. 


Past Director : Dr. Fred Strickland came to us to help out and then stepped up to the Directors position.  He was here before when he was on active duty with the United States Air Force. He was here in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He left in 1984 for assignments in South Korea, in Washington DC, and in San Antonio Texas.  Half of his Air Force career was as an HF radio operator and the last half was as a frequency manager.  At Loring, he worked in the Combat Crew section (42BMW/KT also listed as 2192CS/DOKT).  He retired from the Air Force in 1995.  Thank you Fred for your time nad attention to the museum. 


Past  Director,  Jim  Alward,  Jim  served  with  the  museum  for  many  years  both  as  a  director  and  a  member  coming  to  meetings.  Jim  was  knowledgeable in  many  facets  of  Loring  having  worked  the  grounds  for  years.  Jim  was  a  strong  asset  for  our  Open  Houses  and  a  valuable  member  Of  the  team.   Thanks  Jim.  We  apprecaite  you.  


Past  Director  Ray  Vogel,  Ray  was  a  great  guy,  easy  going,  and  a  great  sense  of  humor.  He  knew  his  stuff  about  Loring  as  a  Veteran  of  the  USAF.  He  manned  many  weekends  at  the  museum  and  his  generosity  of  time  will  be  sorely  missed.  Ray  was  our  middle  man  at  events  keeping  a  cool  head  and  keeping  us  on  our  toes.  Fly  high  Ray,  we  already  miss  you.
